Plan for the improvement of central streets based on Chuy Avenue
Vice Mayor Ramiz Aliyev announced the start of shrub removal on the city streets as part of the new design code for Bishkek.
According to Aliyev, the plan is to tidy up all central streets, based on the concept of Chuy Avenue, which implies the absence of barriers, fences, and shrubs. The design will only involve lawns and flowerbeds under trees.
It should be noted that ecologists and urbanism specialists have previously emphasized the importance of shrubs as an element of the urban ecosystem, which helps reduce air pollution and improve the aesthetic appearance of busy streets with a high number of vehicles and buildings.
Nevertheless, city authorities insist on the necessity of creating "open spaces." As part of this strategy, trolleybuses along with their wires and poles have also been removed from the capital.
