On January 23, the press service of the State Committee for National Security (GKNB) reported the detention of a police officer suspected of committing an official crime.

According to the investigation, police lieutenant U.O.Sh., who works in the Department of Internal Affairs of Osh (GOM-3), exerted pressure on foreign citizens working in the city. Aware that these individuals did not have the necessary permits, he extorted monthly payments ranging from 5,000 to 20,000 soms for protection. Otherwise, he threatened them with fines and deportation.

The detention took place on January 21, when GKNB and the Ministry of Internal Affairs' (MVD) Special Operations Unit caught the suspect in the act of receiving money. He was placed in the GKNB temporary detention facility.

An investigation is currently underway to identify other possible participants in this case.
