The press service of the regional police reported that on January 20, 2026, a 20-year-old resident of the village of Airybaz in the Kadamjai district approached the police. He stated that on January 7 at 10:00 PM, in the territory of Kyzyl-Kiya, he was forcibly placed into a "Daewoo Lanos" car by a citizen named Ө. and three of his accomplices, who then took him to the old car market, threatening him with a knife, and demanded 50,000 soms.
The criminals also took the victim's iPhone 8 and forced him, through third parties, to transfer 5,000 soms. Moreover, they threatened him via messenger and coerced him to top up his mobile phone balance by another 5,000 soms, while continuing their attempts to extort the remaining amount.
Based on these facts, a criminal case has been opened under Article 208 ("Extortion") of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic.
As a result of operational actions carried out by the officers of the Batken regional police, on January 27 in the village of Kaltak, six residents of Kyzyl-Kiya were detained while receiving part of the extorted money amounting to 20,000 soms: 20-year-old M.Ө., as well as 22-year-olds G.N., M.S., S.J., 24-year-old A.B., and another man.
During the investigation, M.Ө., G.N., and M.S. were placed in a temporary detention facility in accordance with Articles 96–97 of the Criminal Procedure Code.
