According to the intelligence agency, the executor of the assassination was Lyubomir Korba, who acted on the instructions of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU). It is claimed that Korba was recruited by Ukrainian intelligence services with the support of Polish colleagues in 2025. He underwent shooting training at a training ground in Kyiv and was then "dropped" into Russia last August to monitor high-profile military personnel in Moscow.
According to the FSB, Korba obtained a pistol for the assassination from a stash organized by Ukrainian intelligence services in the Moscow region. He was promised a reward of $30,000 for carrying out this order.
The incident occurred on the morning of February 6, when the hitman was waiting for the general on the stairwell of a building on Volokolamsk Highway. During the attack, he fired several shots at Vladimir Alekseev, resulting in serious injuries to his limbs, abdomen, and chest, leading to significant blood loss. The general was urgently taken to intensive care.
Earlier, Svetlana Petrenko, the official representative of the Investigative Committee, reported the initiation of a criminal case under articles related to attempted murder and illegal arms trafficking. The Moscow Prosecutor's Office has taken the investigation under special control.
