In the case of the assassination attempt on Lieutenant General Vladimir Alexeev, which occurred in Moscow, the detained Lyubomir Korba and Viktor Vasin gave confessions, as reported by the Public Relations Center (PRC) of the FSB of Russia.
According to information provided by Russian special services, Korba and Vasin acted on the instructions of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU). During the recruitment of the perpetrator of the crime, Lyubomir Korba, Polish special services were also involved, who engaged his son — Lubos Korba, born in 1998, residing in Katowice.
The detained Korba was recruited in August 2025, after which he underwent shooting training at a range in Kyiv and was transported to Russia via the route "Kyiv — Chișinău — Tbilisi — Moscow," according to the FSB.
The FSB also reports that for the assassination of General Alexeev, Ukrainian special services promised a reward of 30 thousand dollars.
According to the FSB, Korba was monitoring high-ranking military officials in Moscow. In his testimony, he stated that in December 2025 he received instructions to eliminate Alexeev. From a stash in the Moscow region, he retrieved a PM pistol with a silencer and ammunition, as well as an electronic key for access to the entrance where Alexeev lived, provided by Zinaida Serebritskaya, who, according to the FSB, has left for Ukraine.
Viktor Vasin, an accomplice in the assassination attempt, rented an apartment for Korba during the preparation for the crime and provided him with public transport tickets. The FSB emphasizes that Vasin is a supporter of the international "Anti-Corruption Foundation," participated in protest actions in Moscow, registered on the "Smart Voting" and "Navalny's Headquarters" platforms, and published materials on social media against constitutional amendments in Russia and in support of Sergey Udaltsov, who was convicted of extremism.
The assassination attempt on Lieutenant General of the Russian Ministry of Defense Vladimir Alexeev took place on the morning of February 6. The general was shot multiple times in the entrance of his apartment building on Volokolamsk Highway in Moscow and was hospitalized in serious condition. On February 7, it became known that he regained consciousness after surgery. Russian authorities accused Ukraine of this incident; however, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sibiga denied these accusations.
