According to the investigation, the shooter Lyubomir Korba arrived in Moscow in December 2025 with the aim of committing a terrorist act, having received instructions from Ukrainian special services.
Korba, a native of the Ternopil region in Ukraine, held Russian citizenship at the time of the incident. He was detained after his extradition from Dubai.
Charges of illegal arms trafficking and attempted murder of a military officer have been brought against his accomplice Viktor Vasin.
Vasin, a former officer and ex-head of the security department of one of the Moscow companies, met Korba in 2015 at officer training courses. Since then, they maintained contact, and it was he who provided the killer with weapons, according to the investigation.
Another accomplice in the assassination attempt, Zinaida Antonyuk, lived in the same apartment as the general on the 26th floor. She gathered information about him from neighbors.
At the age of 54, Antonyuk changed her surname to Serebritskaya and obtained Russian citizenship. In December 2025, she moved to the same building where Lieutenant General Vladimir Alekseev lived, located on Volokolamskoye Highway. She could observe the officer and relay information to Korba, and after the crime, she fled to Ukraine.
The assassination attempt on the general occurred on the morning of February 6. Korba was waiting for Alekseev on the landing and shot him several times, causing injuries to his limbs, abdomen, and chest, which led to severe blood loss. The general was urgently taken to intensive care.
Svetlana Petrenko, the official representative of the Investigative Committee, previously informed about the initiation of a criminal case under articles on attempted murder and illegal arms trafficking. The Prosecutor's Office of Moscow has taken the investigation under special control.
