
The incident that led to the detention occurred on February 6 in Moscow, when a man opened fire on General Alekseev in a residential building on Volokolamsk Highway. The general was urgently hospitalized in one of the capital's hospitals.
According to information provided by law enforcement agencies, a Russian citizen, Lyubomir Korba, was arrested in connection with this attack. Two of his accomplices were also identified: one was detained in Moscow, while the other left the country and went to Ukraine.
A criminal case was initiated under articles related to attempted murder and illegal trafficking of firearms.
Lieutenant General Alekseev has held the position of First Deputy Head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Russia since 2011. He participated in military operations in Syria and was awarded the title of Hero of Russia in 2017.
Additionally, he holds the Order of "For Merit to the Fatherland" IV class and the Order of Alexander Nevsky.
