According to the Aviation Safety Network portal, in 2025, 418 people died as a result of aviation accidents worldwide. The count includes incidents involving aircraft that carry at least 14 people.

Statistics show that among the victims, 352 were passengers, 33 were crew members, and another 33 were other individuals. This figure was higher than in 2024, when the number of fatalities was 334. However, when compared to data from 50 years ago, the level of safety has significantly increased. In the 1970s, the likelihood of a fatal outcome during a flight was one in 264,000, while now this risk has decreased to one in 11,459,330. At the same time, the number of air passengers has increased approximately tenfold, reaching 4.7 billion per year.

The most resonant event of 2025 was the crash of a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner operated by Air India in Ahmedabad.
