The chief engineer of fleet No. 2 of the municipal enterprise "Bishkek City Transport," Artur Ömürzakov, reported on "Birinchi Radio" that in Bishkek, in 70% of cases of road traffic accidents involving public transport, the responsibility does not lie with the bus drivers.

He noted that there are 2,660 public transport drivers working in the capital.

Artur Ömürzakov emphasized that various situations occur on the roads, highlighting the presence of both responsible and unscrupulous drivers. In 2025, 18 meetings were organized with the participation of the leaders of the Patrol Police and the State Traffic Safety Department, dedicated to issues of traffic rule compliance.

“It is important to understand that bus drivers are not the only participants in road traffic. Together with the Patrol Police, we conduct regular analyses that show that in 70% of accidents involving buses, other participants, including car drivers, are at fault,” he added.

According to the chief engineer, in 30% of cases where accidents occur due to the fault of bus drivers, they may lose their bonuses. A commission conducts an investigation to determine the degree of responsibility, and if necessary, the driver pays for the bus repairs. If they do not have enough funds for the repairs, the costs are deducted from their salary, after which the bus is restored to working condition.
