Zhibek Ablaeva, a family doctor from the Jeti-Oguz district of the Issyk-Kul region, shared her unique experience from her medical practice.

She was born on March 8, 1951, and completed her studies at a medical college in 1973, obtaining a degree in dentistry.

Zhibek began her career in 1975, working at a dental center in Bishkek. Later, after getting married, she moved to the village of Lipenka, where she started working in the 1990s. Since 1998, she has held the position of family nurse.

“In over half a century of work, two cases have remained in my memory forever. One of them occurred when I received a call: the wife of a shepherd gave birth in the mountains. We set off immediately, but when we reached the location, we noticed a sharp unpleasant smell coming from the newborn's umbilical area. The conditions in the mountains were extremely difficult, and we didn’t know how the umbilical cord had been cut. The smell was unbearable, and we decided that we urgently needed to transport the baby and his mother to the hospital. Despite the suggestion to stop and rest, we continued on our way without wasting time,” the doctor recounts.

“Only at the hospital was I able to relax a bit, handing them over to my colleagues. This happened in 1999, and I was very worried when I saw the condition of the newborn. The umbilical cord was infected and emitted a terrible smell. Thanks to our determination and God's help, we managed to save their lives,” she recalls.

Zhibek also shares another memorable case: “When I was working as a dentist, I was urgently called to a pregnant woman who had come from another region and was in severe pain. I rushed to her and saw that her tongue was severely swollen. We immediately transported her to the maternity ward. Remembering the words of the doctors, I cannot hold back my tears. After that, I underwent additional training and became a family doctor.”

Currently, Zhibek works at the FAP in the village of Ichke-Bulun. She has six children, all of whom have received an education and work in various fields. Her eldest son is a farmer in Karakol and is referred to as the “king of meat” [“Эттин падышасы”]. Two other sons assist him in the business, while her daughters have chosen their own paths. One of her grandsons, inspired by his grandmother's profession, is studying in the fifth year of medical university. Zhibek dreams that he will continue her work and help people,” she shares.
