At the meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh on March 11, Deputy Janibek Amatov, representing constituency No. 3, raised an important issue regarding social guarantees for athletes who compete for the national team.
He noted that many of these athletes represent their country for several years, but this time is not counted as work experience. As a result, after finishing their sports careers, they may face problems regarding pension provision.

Amatov emphasized that athletes often serve on the national team for 5 to 10 years, fully dedicating themselves to training and competitions. This circumstance does not allow them to work simultaneously and accumulate full work experience.

The deputy proposed to consider the possibility of accounting for this period in the calculation of experience and pension payments through the Social Fund system.

In response to this statement, Urmat Asanbaev, the director of the State Agency for Physical Culture and Sports, stated that athletes over 18 years old receive social security and medical assistance; however, they do not receive a salary.

According to Asanbaev, the state also provides medical support and treatment for athletes who have been injured during competitions.

Amatov added that state support is particularly important when athletes sustain serious injuries at international tournaments. He cited Olympic medalist Akjol Makhmudov as an example, who had previously faced injuries during his sports career.
