A 16-meter statue of Janraisig, created by Mongolians, was unveiled in Thailand

The installation of this statue in Thailand is of great significance for the dissemination of Buddhist heritage and spiritual values of Mongolia on the international stage. This was reported by MiddleAsianNews.

The opening and consecration ceremony of the Janraisig statue (Avalokiteshvara), initiated by the Mongolian embassy, took place on Sunday, January 22, after the completion of its construction.

The statue, reaching a height of 16 meters and weighing about 30 tons, was made from materials that ensure durability and resistance to various weather conditions.

This project marks the first instance of Mongolia erecting a large statue of Buddha in the territory of another Buddhist country.

The consecration ritual was conducted by the abbot Baasanjav from the Gandantegchenlin Monastery and the unzad Bazargur from the Gungaachoylin Datsan.

According to the Mongolian embassy in Thailand, the statue was designed based on the model of the deity Migjid-Janraisig (Avalokiteshvara) located in the Gandantegchenlin Monastery, and its construction lasted several months, with active participation from the Thai people.

The project authors believe that the Migjid-Janraisig (Avalokiteshvara) statue will contribute to the spread of Buddhist teachings and the concept of compassion, strengthen religious and cultural ties between Mongolia and Thailand, and become a significant element in the development of religious tourism.
