Mongolia and the United States conduct joint exercises 'Gobi Wolf-2026'

From December 21 to 23, a meeting of the working group dedicated to the preparation of the international exercises "Gobi Wolf-2026" will take place at the Main Emergency Management Agency (GUMCHS). These exercises are organized in cooperation with the U.S. Pacific Land Command and GUMCHS and will be held in Uvs aimag. This was reported by MiddleAsianNews.

The working group preparing for the exercises will be led by Colonel Uranchimeg Tsogtbayar, Deputy Head of GUMCHS for Disaster Management, and Major Dmitry Leontyev, who is the Deputy Attaché of the U.S. Embassy in Mongolia.

During the meeting, the content and program of the school will be determined, taking into account the type of natural disaster, risk factors, as well as the characteristics and needs of the region for humanitarian assistance.

Uvs aimag, located in the west of Mongolia, is a mountainous region with many rivers and lakes. Its diverse natural features, including steppes, mountains, and river basins, increase the risk of dangerous phenomena such as floods and snowfalls.

Thus, the goal of the "Gobi Wolf-2026" exercises is to strengthen cooperation in disaster response, exchange experiences and knowledge, and enhance the capabilities of participants to address emerging challenges through practical training, which should ultimately lead to the development of long-term partnerships.

These four-day exercises are part of the Pacific Resilience Disaster Response Exercise and Exchange program aimed at interagency coordination and providing humanitarian assistance beyond the country, coordinated by GUMCHS and the U.S. Army Pacific Command.

The "Gobi Wolf" initiative is significant for enhancing the capabilities of personnel, improving disaster safety, and strengthening partnerships and alliances.
