Hungary has blocked the EU loan for Ukraine of 90 billion euros

On February 20, Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto announced that the country had blocked the allocation of a 90 billion euro loan for Ukraine from the European Union. This decision was made prior to the resumption of oil transit through the Druzhba pipeline to Hungary.

In his post on the social network X, Szijjarto accused Kyiv of "blackmail" and noted: "We will not provide the EU loan for Ukraine until the transportation of oil to Hungary is resumed."

The head of the Hungarian Foreign Ministry added that the suspension of oil supplies was organized "in cooperation with Brussels and the Hungarian opposition" to create difficulties with fuel supplies and influence the political situation in the country ahead of the parliamentary elections scheduled for April 12.

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban also confirmed the blockage of financial assistance. He emphasized: "As long as Ukraine holds the Druzhba pipeline, Hungary will continue to block the 90 billion euro loan for Ukraine's military needs. We will not allow ourselves to be blackmailed!" This statement was made by him on Facebook.
