The Ministry of Commerce of China made a statement calling on the United States to lift unilateral tariff measures. The agency noted that cooperation between the countries benefits both sides, while conflicts could negatively impact both China and the U.S.

China also expressed concern about possible new measures from Washington, including trade investigations that could be used to maintain existing tariffs.

The ministry's statement emphasized that "China will closely monitor the situation and resolutely protect its interests."

It is worth recalling that just recently, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled the tariffs imposed by Trump in April 2025 under emergency powers to be illegal. The court found that the president exceeded his authority by using this law to impose tariffs.

In response to this decision, Trump characterized it as a "shame" and announced an alternative plan. On the same day, he signed an order imposing an additional 10% tariff on goods from all countries, later increasing it to 15%.
