In his message on the social network Truth Social, Trump emphasized that the Supreme Court's decision actually expands his capabilities. He stated that he can now use trade licenses and other tools to exert pressure on other countries.

The president noted: "Now I can use licenses to carry out absolutely 'horrible' actions against foreign states."

He also added that he does not need Congressional approval to impose tariffs, as he believes that the relevant powers were already granted earlier and confirmed by the court's decision.

Additionally, Trump warned of the possibility of increased tariffs for those countries that decide to take advantage of the Supreme Court's ruling declaring previously imposed restrictions illegal.

Earlier, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that the law cited by the Trump administration when establishing import tariffs does not grant the president such powers, as this authority is reserved for Congress in the Constitution.

Trump called this decision a "shame," stated that he has a backup plan, and promised to maintain tariffs related to national security. He also ordered the introduction of a base tariff of 10% for all countries and then announced an increase in tariffs to 15%.

This new measure is set to take effect on February 25 and will remain in force for 150 days.
