As a result of the incident that occurred on February 23 during the match of the Istanbul First Amateur League between the teams "Mevlanakapi Guzelhisar" and "Istanbul Yurdum Spor," the goalkeeper of "Istanbul Yurdum Spor," Muhammet Uyanik, struck the goalkeeper with a ball, which unfortunately hit a passing seagull.

“I didn't immediately understand what had happened. When I got closer, I saw that it was a seagull. I was in shock - it’s a living creature,” Uyanik shared his impressions.

The team captain, Gani Chatan, immediately rushed to help and began administering first aid, attempting to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation. According to him, the seagull was lying on its back and was not breathing.

“That was the first thing that came to my mind. Soon its little legs and eyes started to move, it came to a bit, and we gave it some water. I have never received training in first aid,” noted Chatan.

The resuscitation procedure lasted about two minutes, after which the bird was handed over to the medical staff. The seagull survived, but at the moment it cannot fly and is undergoing treatment.

Despite the fact that the match ended in a loss for "Istanbul Yurdum Spor," and the team lost its chances for the championship, the players stated that saving the bird's life was more important to them than the result.
