The Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia and Sweden signed a memorandum of cooperation

Batzetsgeg Batmönkh, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia, and Maria Malmör Stenergård, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Sweden, signed a Memorandum of Understanding that outlines the framework for cooperation between the two countries. This was reported on the official Facebook page of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia.

According to information from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia, this document creates a basis for regular dialogue aimed at deepening bilateral ties and facilitating mutual high-level visits.

Additionally, the ministers held official talks during which they discussed a wide range of opportunities for further development of Mongolian-Swedish relations, which have a history of over 60 years. They also addressed issues of economic and investment cooperation, as well as collaboration in the fields of culture, education, social protection, and tourism.

To achieve the set goals, the ministers discussed organizing mutual high-level visits, maintaining a constant political dialogue, strengthening the legal framework, and deepening ties between the peoples. In particular, they touched upon the topic of concluding agreements concerning social protection for more than 12,000 Mongolians living in Sweden and simplifying visa procedures.

As part of Mongolia's pursuit of economic growth and export diversification, the Mongolian side emphasized the need to increase trade turnover with neighboring countries. It was proposed to export agricultural products to the Swedish market, which has similar climatic conditions, as well as to develop cooperation with Swedish companies known for their advanced technologies.

The parties expressed their readiness to expand cooperation in the fields of education, science, and culture, with the aim of increasing the number of Mongolian students studying in Sweden, conducting joint research, and activating Mongolian studies.

The ministers also discussed relevant international and regional issues, reaffirming their commitment to strengthening cooperation within the framework of the UN and other international organizations. In this context, Batzetsgeg Batmönkh expressed hope for the participation of high-ranking representatives of Sweden in international events to be held in Ulaanbaatar this year, including the Ulaanbaatar Dialogue and the 17th Conference of the Parties (COP17) to the UN Convention to Combat Desertification. She also invited Maria Malmör Stenergård to visit Mongolia at her convenience, as reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia.
