After the launch of a GoFundMe campaign, which raised $100,000 to prevent eviction, Mickey Rourke issued a statement. He noted that he was unaware of the fundraising effort and called it shameful.

Last month, the 73-year-old actor received a notice of rental debt obligations amounting to $59,100, demanding that he vacate his apartment in Los Angeles within three days if the debt was not settled. As a result, a campaign was organized with the goal of "helping cover urgent housing expenses" and "preventing" the loss of his home.

In his Instagram, Rourke commented on the situation, stating that he was surprised by the creation of the campaign. He expressed dissatisfaction and stated that he did not understand why someone decided to organize fundraising on his behalf.

He added: "This has nothing to do with me. If I really needed money, I wouldn't ask for help through charity—I would rather do something else."

Addressing the campaign's initiator, Rourke emphasized: "I have no idea what GoFundMe is. My life is simple, and I do not seek help from outsiders."

The campaign was organized by a woman named Leah-Joel Jones, who introduced herself as an assistant to Kimberly Hines, the actor's manager. In her message on GoFundMe, she claimed that the initiative was "created with Mickey's consent."

However, in his video statement, Rourke characterized the fundraising as a "shame." "I am sure I will handle this situation, just like I have dealt with previous difficulties," he concluded.
