The Iranian government has declared a three-day mourning period in memory of the victims who died during the "resistance against the USA and Israel." In official statements, authorities reported that 38 law enforcement officers were killed as a result of the crackdown on protests, as reported by Khaleej Times.

Iran's state television announced: "In honor of the martyrs who died during the national resistance against the USA and the Zionist regime, the government declares three days of mourning."

The country's president, Masoud Pezeshkian, called on citizens to participate in the national resistance march, condemning the violence. He noted that he would not allow the rioters to destroy the country and accused the USA and Israel of organizing mass protests.

Protests in Iran began in late December 2025 against the backdrop of a collapse of the national currency and a sharp rise in prices. Participants in the demonstrations are demanding a change of political regime and the return to power of Reza Pahlavi, the son of the overthrown Shah in 1979. According to the human rights organization HRANA, at least 538 people have died since the protests began, including 48 security personnel. Additionally, more than 10,600 people have been arrested, and the internet has been disconnected for more than three days.
