Reza Pahlavi, the exiled heir to the Iranian throne, has called on workers in the country's strategic sectors to go on a general strike amid ongoing protests, as reported by ANI.

In his video address published on the X (Twitter) platform, he urged workers in the transportation, oil and gas, and energy sectors to cease their activities. He also suggested that Iranians take to the streets on January 10 and 11, starting at 6 PM, with national flags and symbols.

According to Pahlavi, the goals of the protest movement have changed.

“Now our goal is not only to be on the streets; we must be ready to seize and hold the centers of cities,” he noted.

The prince urged protesters to move towards city centers via various routes, to unite, and to be prepared for a prolonged presence on the streets. He also addressed the youth from the "Immortal Guard" organization and military personnel supporting the "National Cooperation Platform," asking them to slow down and disrupt the operations of repressive structures.

Pahlavi also confirmed his readiness to return to Iran.

“I am also preparing to return to my homeland to be with you, the great people of Iran, at the moment of victory of our national revolution. I believe this day is not far off,” he added.

Mass protests in Iran have now been ongoing for the 13th day. According to the Institute for the Study of War (ISW), since January 8, there have been 116 protests in 22 provinces, 20 of which gathered more than a thousand participants.

The internet monitoring project NetBlocks reported a 36-hour complete internet shutdown across the country. The foreign ministers of Australia, Canada, and the European Union issued a joint statement condemning the killings and arrests of protesters carried out by the Iranian authorities.

Earlier, the Iranian army confirmed its readiness to participate in suppressing the mass protests sweeping the country.
