The President of the United States, Donald Trump, expressed his dissatisfaction sharply to his French counterpart, Emmanuel Macron, threatening to impose 200 percent tariffs on French wine and champagne. This statement came after it became known that Macron is likely to refuse the offer to join the "Peace Council" on Gaza.

Trump noted: "He is not needed by anyone, as he will soon resign... I will impose 200 percent tariffs on his wines and champagne, and he will change his decision," the U.S. president's words were reported by journalists, citing Bloomberg. Macron's term will end next year, and he has already stated that he does not intend to participate in the next elections.

Trump announced the creation of the "Peace Council" on January 16, when his executive committee was also presented. It includes figures such as U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Special Envoy Steve Witkoff, the president's son-in-law Jared Kushner, and former British Prime Minister Tony Blair. According to the charter, the council will focus primarily on resolving the conflict in Gaza, and then plans to move on to other crisis situations.
