According to Peskov, "yes, President Putin received an invitation through diplomatic channels, and we are currently analyzing all aspects of this proposal. We hope for further negotiations with the American side to clarify the details."

On January 16, 2026, U.S. President Donald Trump announced the establishment of the Gaza Peace Council. This council is part of Trump's peace plan for the region and includes the creation of international forces. The executive committee of the council will include high-ranking officials such as U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Trump's special envoy Steve Witkoff, the president's son-in-law Jared Kushner, and former British Prime Minister Tony Blair.

Washington has sent invitations to participate in the "Peace Council" to 50 countries, including Argentina, Canada, France, Germany, Australia, Bahrain, Egypt, Turkey, and Israel. Additionally, Kazakhstan's President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev also received an invitation.

According to Bloomberg, U.S. authorities require countries wishing to obtain a permanent seat on the Gaza Peace Council to make a contribution of at least $1 billion. The first chairperson of the executive council is Trump, who will determine who can become a member of the organization. Council members are appointed for a term of up to three years and have one vote each. Decisions are made by a majority vote, but all are subject to approval by Chairperson Trump.
