Maria Corina Machado, leader of the Venezuelan opposition, awarded the Nobel Peace Prize to U.S. President Donald Trump, as reported by DW.
This event took place on January 15 during a meeting between Trump and Machado at the White House.
Machado, who became a laureate of this award last year, presented it to Trump with comments on his "unique commitment to our freedom".
Trump expressed his joy about receiving the award on the social network Truth Social, writing: "Maria awarded me the Nobel Peace Prize for my work. This is a wonderful gesture of mutual respect. Thank you, Maria!"
It is important to note that the Norwegian Nobel Institute, which is responsible for awarding the prizes, clarified that a laureate is not allowed to transfer the prize to another person, nor can they share it or refuse it.
