Ukraine is initiating an urgent meeting of the UN Security Council following a strike in the Lviv region from the 'Oreshnik' missile system. This was announced by the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Andriy Sibiga.

According to the minister, this incident, which occurred near the borders of the EU and NATO, poses a serious threat to the security of the entire European continent. He noted that this is a test for the transatlantic community. "We insist on decisive measures in response to Russia's reckless actions and are informing the USA, European partners, and international organizations about what happened through diplomatic channels. We are initiating international actions, including an urgent meeting of the UN Security Council, as well as meetings within the framework of Ukraine and NATO, and appropriate measures within the EU, the Council of Europe, and the OSCE," Sibiga added.

The minister also denied information that Ukraine allegedly attacked Vladimir Putin's residence, to which Russia responded with a strike from the 'Oreshnik'. He called for tightening anti-Russian sanctions on behalf of Kyiv.

On the morning of January 9, the Russian Ministry of Defense reported a strike from the 'Oreshnik', which they regarded as a response to the attack on Putin's residence. The statement claimed that the targets of the strike were facilities related to drone production, as well as energy infrastructure critical for the functioning of the Ukrainian defense industry.

The head of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Sergey Lavrov, previously stated that Ukraine attempted to attack Putin's residence on the night of December 29 using 91 drones, but all of them were intercepted.
