As reported by DW, this statement was made by Zelensky at a press conference with Czech President Petr Pavel on January 16.

The President of Ukraine expressed hope that the negotiations would lead to greater clarity regarding both the documents prepared with the American side and Russia's reaction to efforts for a diplomatic resolution.

Zelensky also noted the need to refine several issues related to security guarantees and the plan for Ukraine's recovery. With the appropriate readiness, he suggested that an agreement could be signed during the World Economic Forum, which will take place from January 19 to 23 in Davos.

"The main thing is not to rush into signing, but to ensure that all aspects we discussed with our partners are taken into account. We cannot afford to be 'naked and barefoot' after the war, so we need real financial support," Zelensky emphasized.

It is planned to attract about $800 billion for the country's recovery over the next decade. Signing the agreement could open doors for loans, grants, and investments from private companies.

Additionally, during the press conference, Zelensky announced the arrival of a new package of missiles for air defense systems that had previously been without ammunition. As of this morning, several air defense systems in Kyiv were without missiles, but this issue has now been resolved.

The President added that he has to independently pursue each aid package from European countries and the U.S.

In an interview with Reuters on January 14, Donald Trump noted that Ukraine is less ready for peace negotiations than Russia. When asked why American efforts have not ended the four-year conflict, he replied: "Zelensky," without providing further details.

On January 15, Zelensky stated that Russia's ongoing attacks on Ukrainian energy infrastructure confirm Moscow's unwillingness for peace.

In December 2025, the President of Ukraine first presented a 20-point peace plan that is being discussed in negotiations. As reported by AFP on January 16, Kyiv and its European partners have agreed with the U.S. on the main parameters of this plan.
