The President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, received an official invitation from U.S. President Donald Trump to join an international initiative aimed at strengthening peace in the Middle East and resolving conflicts. This was reported by the press secretary of the head of state, Sherzod Asadov.

Uzbekistan has been offered to become a founding member of the Council of Peace within this initiative.

In Trump's address, it is noted that the initiative is based on the Comprehensive Plan for the cessation of conflict in Gaza, which was announced on September 29, 2025, and supported by world leaders, as well as approved by UN Security Council Resolution No. 2803 on November 17, 2025.

The main goal of the initiative is to create a new international body – the Council of Peace, which will unite states willing to take responsibility for establishing long-term peace and stability.

Mirziyoyev responded to Trump, expressing Uzbekistan's readiness to become a founding member of the Council of Peace.

“In his letter, the president of our country emphasized that this initiative represents a significant step towards resolving long-standing conflicts in the Middle East and ensuring peace in the region,” noted the press secretary.

Trump announced the establishment of the Council of Peace in the Gaza Strip on January 16, 2026. This institution became part of the U.S. president's peace plan for the region, including the deployment of international forces.

On the same day, the White House presented the composition of the executive committee of the council, which includes seven members, among them U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Trump's special envoy Steve Witkoff, the president's son-in-law Jared Kushner, and former British Prime Minister Tony Blair.

According to Bloomberg, the Trump administration requires countries wishing to obtain a permanent seat on the Council to contribute at least $1 billion. The draft charter also states that the first chairman of the Council will be Trump himself, who will be responsible for making decisions about new members of the organization and will have the authority to approve or reject decisions made by majority vote.

It was previously reported that the proposal from Trump to join the "Council of Peace" on Gaza was also received by Kazakhstan's President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, who expressed his agreement to this proposal through his press service.

Moscow also confirmed that a similar invitation was sent to Vladimir Putin, who is currently reviewing the details of this proposal.
