In Uzbekistan, a contestant of the beauty pageant 'Miss Earth-2025' was fined for using state symbols in her costume

Shahrizoda Madaminova
A court in Tashkent has issued a ruling in the case of 21-year-old Shahrizoda Madaminova, who became the first representative of Uzbekistan at the 'Miss Earth-2025' competition.
According to Podrobno.uz, the girl was found guilty of violating laws regarding state symbols due to the design of her dress for the competition.
The event took place on October 28, 2025, in Manila (Philippines) and was organized under the auspices of the UN to draw attention to environmental issues. On the runway, Madaminova appeared in an outfit that featured elements of the state flag and coat of arms of Uzbekistan. Photos of this moment later appeared on Instagram, attracting the attention of law enforcement agencies.

During the trial, Madaminova explained that she did indeed draw inspiration from state symbols when creating her national costume. However, she clarified that the design was stylized, and the dress lacked important elements such as the white crescent and twelve stars. According to her, only recognizable colors and shapes from the coat of arms were used in the outfit.

The girl also appealed to the court to consider mitigating circumstances.

According to the ruling of the Mirabad District Court issued on January 19, 2026, Shahrizoda was found guilty under part 1 of Article 203-1 of the Code of Administrative Offenses (violation of legislation on state symbols) and was fined 2 BRV, amounting to 824,000 sums ($69).

The title of 'Miss Earth-2025' was awarded to 21-year-old model from the Czech Republic, Natali Pushkinova.
