An unverified video has surfaced online, reportedly showing an injured person during the unrest. The recording captures numerous gunshots, and a person in a vest marked "Police" can be seen nearby.
The Department of Homeland Security later released a statement detailing the incident. According to the information, at 9:05 AM Central Time, during an operation to apprehend an illegal immigrant wanted for a violent crime, a man approached Border Patrol agents armed with a 9mm semi-automatic pistol. When they attempted to disarm him, he actively resisted.
One of the agents, fearing for his life and the safety of his colleagues, opened fire in self-defense. Despite urgent medical assistance provided at the scene, the injured man died. The suspect was also found to have two magazines, but no identification on him.
The day before, in Minneapolis, despite the 20-degree frost, thousands of people took to the streets to protest against immigration repression sparked by the actions of President Trump's administration, following the detention of a 5-year-old boy and his father.
