The ministry noted that there are no natural sources of this virus in the country. The Nipah virus is primarily found in certain species of tropical bats, which are not present in Tajikistan.
It is also important to consider that with the onset of the winter season, the likelihood of transmission of the virus from animals to humans significantly decreases.
“Recent cases of illness in India, where more than 1 billion people live and which is located at a considerable distance from Tajikistan, do not pose an epidemiological threat to our country,” the Ministry of Health added.
The department emphasized that no additional measures are currently required, as adequate sanitary and epidemiological control mechanisms are in place at the borders.
Moreover, all food products, including juices, are checked by the relevant authorities.
It is worth noting that a localized outbreak of the Nipah virus has been recorded in India.
The Nipah virus is typically characteristic of tropical regions. In January 2026, an outbreak of infection caused by this virus occurred in the Indian state of West Bengal, near Kolkata.
