The information from the Ombudsman Institute indicates that the situation at the National Oncology Center is becoming critical. The press service of the agency reports a severe shortage of modern medical equipment, which complicates the provision of quality care to patients with oncological diseases.

During a monitoring conducted in August 2025, it was found that out of three linear accelerators used for radiation therapy, two were out of order, and treatment was only being carried out on an outdated "Babatron" device. Even if all three devices were functioning properly, providing the necessary treatment for all patients would be extremely difficult: only about 25.6% of those who sought help for the first time with an oncological disease were able to undergo radiation therapy in the last five years.

There is also a noted shortage of special fixation devices, such as thermoplastic masks, which are necessary for accurate patient positioning and safe targeting of the tumor. The complete absence of pediatric thermomasks makes it impossible to conduct procedures for young patients.

Human rights defenders point to outdated equipment, including a mammograph that has not been updated since 2014, as well as a lack of ultrasound machines, angiographs, and modern endoscopic and laparoscopic systems. In the regions, the situation is even more serious: linear accelerators are completely absent, forcing patients from across the country to travel to Bishkek for treatment.

The Ombudsman Institute emphasizes that the current state of the equipment does not meet international standards, which jeopardizes the health and timely treatment of thousands of citizens suffering from oncological diseases.
