At the meeting dedicated to the results of 2025, Health Minister Kanaybek Dosmambetov stated that medical tourism in Kyrgyzstan has reached significant proportions and is becoming a negative phenomenon.

According to him, many patients are forced to seek treatment abroad due to the low quality of medical services within the country. However, even treatment outside the country does not always yield the desired results. Citizens often return without the necessary medical procedures or do not receive help at all.

Dosmambetov noted that people spend a lot of money and time, but often remain without medical care both in foreign clinics and in Kyrgyzstan. He shared cases where citizens sold their property or took out loans, hoping for treatment abroad, only to return home in severe conditions.

“Unfortunately, patients return after a long absence, and the time that could have been used for treatment is already lost. Some, sadly, return home and die,” the minister added.

He also emphasized that the issue of medical tourism affects not only Turkey but also other countries in the region, including Uzbekistan.

According to the minister, one of the main tasks of the department is to improve the healthcare system in the country so that citizens can receive quality treatment without leaving Kyrgyzstan.
