More than 35 thousand patients have been registered at the National Center for Oncology and Hematology, as reported by the director of the institution, Nurbek Bukuev, during the broadcast of the program "Elden Sobol" by the agency "Kabar." Each year, the center records up to 6,500 new cases of the disease. The sad statistics show that almost half of these patients die within the first year after diagnosis.
According to Nurbek Bukuev, the key reason for the high mortality rate is the delayed seeking of medical help by patients. Many do not realize they have cancer or avoid examinations, which leads to the progression of the disease. Currently, four stages of cancer are recognized, and more than 50% of patients come for consultation already at stages 3–4, when the condition becomes critical. This situation can be observed not only in Kyrgyzstan but also around the world. On a global scale, approximately 600 thousand new cases of cancer are recorded each year, of which about 350 thousand result in death within the first year.
