The head of the National Oncology Center spoke about whether the number of patients is increasing in the country

The importance of early detection of oncological diseases is emphasized in Kyrgyzstan. This was discussed in the program "Elden Sobol," organized by the "Kabar" agency, by Nurbek Bukuev, the director of the National Center for Oncology and Hematology.

He noted that the overall number of patients remains at the same level.

“According to statistics, if in 2008 the population of the country was 5 million, today it exceeds 7 million. Accordingly, with the increase in population, there is also a rise in the number of patients. This phenomenon is characteristic not only of Kyrgyzstan but also of other countries, affecting not only oncology but also other diseases,” he explained.

Bukuev also refuted rumors that “the Oncology Center is not functioning.”

“According to the data from the Statistics Committee, we do not observe an increase in the number of diseases. The indicators remain stable compared to previous years. Only the methods of diagnosis and detection of diseases have changed. As a result, diseases are being diagnosed at earlier stages, which creates the illusion of an increase in the number of patients. At the moment, our center is focusing on early detection of diseases, which is our main goal,” he added.
