According to the Ministry of Health, there has been a significant decrease in child mortality in Kyrgyzstan over the past decades, amounting to 73%. This was stated by the Minister of Health, Damir Osmonov, during a meeting with Samman Jung Tapa, the UNICEF representative in the country. The Minister noted that such achievements have been made possible through joint efforts to improve maternal and child health.
“According to the data from the Comprehensive Multisectoral Indicator Survey conducted in 2023 with the support of our partners, including UNICEF, the mortality rate of children under five has decreased from 20 to 16.5 per 1,000 live births over the past five years,” emphasized Osmonov.
