
In Mongolia, the newly appointed UNICEF permanent representative Beate Dastel presented her credentials. This was reported on the official page of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia on Facebook.
On February 23, Beate Dastel, representing the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), officially took office by handing over her credentials to the State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mönkhtushig Lkhanaajav.
During the meeting, State Secretary Mönkhtushig noted the significant and long-term contribution of UNICEF to the socio-economic development of Mongolia, emphasizing support for children and the protection of their rights. He expressed satisfaction with the results of joint work in areas such as improving maternal and child health, ensuring access to education, strengthening social protection, and protecting the rights of vulnerable groups.
Beate Dastel confirmed that UNICEF is committed to continuing the successful implementation of its programs in Mongolia and expressed readiness to strengthen further cooperation to improve the welfare of children in the country.
A citizen of Austria, Beate Dastel has experience in international development and strategic planning. Before taking her current position in Mongolia, she served as the permanent representative in Djibouti and also held the position of deputy permanent representative in Laos and Bhutan, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
