According to the EEC, the increase in time for passing border procedures is due to measures aimed at combating the illegal turnover of goods, which they believe threatens national security. "These measures are temporary and targeted, and their goal is to restore order at the border," the statement emphasizes.
Kazakhstan highly values its neighborly relations with Kyrgyzstan, which is a strategic partner and ally. The authorities of Kazakhstan expect understanding and further cooperation to jointly combat illegal activities that cause serious harm to the economies of both countries and their international reputation. The EEC also emphasized that respect and partnership between the two states have always been a priority. Kazakhstan will continue its strategy, not yielding to the influence of temporary factors. "Closing channels for illegal transportation fully aligns with the interests of both Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan. Mutually beneficial cooperation should be based on the lawful actions of governments and authorized bodies, as smuggling undermines the stability of interstate relations," the Commission's message states.
The EEC highlighted that combating the shadow turnover of goods is one of the key areas of work within the EAEU. To ensure the legal turnover and reduce control from customs authorities, mechanisms for navigation seals and other measures for traceability and labeling of goods are being implemented, and work is underway to improve control over customs value.
