The situation with the queues of freight transport at some border crossing points between Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan has been commented on by the Eurasian Economic Commission. According to official data, the delays are caused by planned control measures being implemented by the Kazakh side.

Representatives of Kazakhstan reported that the additional inspections are temporary and targeted, aimed at streamlining operations at the border, primarily to prevent the illegal circulation of goods, which could threaten national security.

Kazakhstan emphasized that the country highly values its good-neighborly relations with Kyrgyzstan, which is a strategic partner and ally. Kazakhstan hopes for mutual understanding and continued cooperation in combating illegal activities that could harm the economies of both countries and their international reputation.

The EEC noted that the measures being taken fall within the national competence of the EAEU member states and do not affect the integration processes within the Union. A mechanism for the cancellation of controls, including customs, sanitary, and veterinary checks, operates in mutual trade, except in cases provided for by EAEU law.

In addition, the commission added that the fight against the shadow circulation of goods remains one of the main priorities. To reduce risks and decrease the need for additional inspections, mechanisms for navigation seals and product labeling are being implemented, as well as efforts to improve the quality of customs control.
