At a meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh, deputy Altynbek Kylchayev proposed the initiative to organize the production of solar panels in Kyrgyzstan.

He emphasized that there is currently an active influx of investments for the installation of solar panels.

“The key raw material for this production is quartzite. Our country has 340,000 tons of quartz reserves. There is a demand for the installation of solar panels in many regions. Approximately $1 billion will be needed to launch production. Additionally, it is possible to manufacture other products. This will create 6,000 jobs,” he noted.

The deputy also added that the Ministry of Energy should discuss this initiative with other government structures.

Furthermore, changes to the Law on Renewable Energy Sources are being considered in parliament. The project stipulates that companies engaged in renewable energy sources will be required to transfer 1% of their revenue from electricity sales to the local budget. Investors will also need to install energy storage devices that will constitute at least 30% of the total capacity of the facility.
