With the arrival of early spring in Kyrgyzstan, farmers in the Aravan district have begun planting potatoes. According to the Ministry of Agriculture, favorable weather conditions have developed for successful sowing, and necessary agronomic measures have been taken.
According to the department, the potatoes currently being planted will be ready for sale as early as May. One local farmer, who is tending to 90 acres of land, expects to harvest over 20 tons during this time.
It is worth noting that the "Riviera" variety is distinguished by its early maturation and can yield crops up to three times from one plot within two months.
The ministry also emphasized that farmers prepared the soil back in the autumn: they fertilized it and treated it with necessary preparations and vitamins. In turn, the department provides support, including equipment and protective means for the fields.
The grown potatoes will be for both the domestic market of Kyrgyzstan and for export to neighboring countries. Additionally, local residents participate in fieldwork, earning a wage of 1,500 soms per day.
