Elon Musk: The U.S. Will Not Overtake China in High Technology Without Innovation

According to Elon Musk, China will continue to lead in high technology if the United States does not achieve significant breakthroughs. This statement was made by him during a podcast that aired on the YouTube channel of blogger Dvarkesh Patel.

When Musk was asked if he expects Washington to fall behind China in areas such as artificial intelligence, electric vehicles, and humanoid robots if there are no breakthroughs in the coming years, he replied: "If there are no new significant innovations in the U.S., China will take an absolute dominant position."

He emphasized that simply having a larger population will not help the U.S. win, as China's population is four times larger. Musk also noted that the country is experiencing a "long-term trend of declining birth rates." "But it's not just about population size, as people in China perform a significantly higher volume of work. Productivity per capita is higher there," he added.

Additionally, Musk pointed out China's dominant position in the extraction of rare earth metals.
