The Ministry of Transport is launching a PPP project to collect fees from freight trucks and buses
The Ministry of Transport and Communications of the Kyrgyz Republic has announced the start of a public-private partnership project aimed at implementing an electronic system for collecting fees from freight transport and buses, as well as for automatic weight and dimensional control on public roads.
The goal of this project is to attract additional resources for improving and maintaining road infrastructure, as well as to ensure the preservation of highways. As part of this initiative, it is planned to establish 42 automated control points across the country.
These systems will automatically recognize the license plates of vehicles, track their movement using navigation technologies, and record instances of exceeding dimensional and weight norms. In case of violations, fines will be automatically imposed on drivers.
The project will be implemented under the PPP model, where the private partner will be responsible for financing, designing, constructing, operating, and maintaining the system. Upon the expiration of the contract, all created infrastructure will be transferred to the state.
Additionally, the Ministry of Transport noted that both domestic and foreign companies with experience in information technology, intelligent transport systems, and infrastructure projects can participate in the competition.
