Pavel Pakhomov: The Market is Transitioning from Hype to Sustainable Sectors

At a press conference dedicated to the key trends in the Kyrgyz stock market, Pavel Pakhomov, head of the analytical department at ITS, emphasized that the development of securities trading infrastructure has become a landmark event for local investors.

“Recently, the process of purchasing shares of international companies took up to a day and required many complex steps. Today, however, thanks to just a few clicks, transactions are completed in only 120 milliseconds. This allows investors to instantly acquire shares of giants like Apple, Microsoft, and Coca-Cola,” he noted.

Pakhomov added that access to more than 3,000 stocks and exchange-traded funds significantly expands choices for investors. They can apply various strategies—from high-risk speculative instruments with the potential for high returns to more conservative approaches that yield about 3-5% annually in dollars.

The expert also commented on the global economic situation, noting that 2025 has proven successful for the world economy and stock markets. Most country indices demonstrated growth, while the ITS World and ITS Sharia funds showed returns in the range of 25-26%. This can be considered a "golden mean" between yield and stability.

“Key factors influencing market dynamics include the U.S. tariff policy, changes in interest rates, and the growing interest in artificial intelligence. Technology companies that make up the so-called 'magnificent seven,' with a capitalization of over a trillion dollars, accounted for much of the growth in the American market,” he added.

However, the market situation has begun to change in recent months. Investors have started to lock in profits in the technology sector and redistribute funds into more stable industries.

There is a capital flow into sectors such as healthcare, consumer goods, utilities, and telecommunications, where demand and revenues are more predictable.

Interest in artificial intelligence is gradually declining: although large companies continue to invest hundreds of billions of dollars in new technologies, the profits generated often do not meet investors' expectations, leading to a reevaluation of stocks.

It is also worth noting that the precious metals market is gradually cooling after a sharp rise in prices, and investors are increasingly turning to diversification and defensive assets.

The American market remains at historical highs: the Dow Jones index has surpassed the 50,000-point mark for the first time, while the S&P 500 briefly rose above 7,000. Nevertheless, the market is in a phase of reevaluation and seeking a new equilibrium.

The variety of available instruments allows investors to shape their portfolios according to personal risk preferences. Investors seeking high returns can choose volatile assets, while more conservative market participants tend to favor instruments with stable yields and dividends.

An important point is the growing interest in Islamic financial instruments that comply with Sharia norms and are becoming a significant part of the investment landscape in the region.

The expansion of access to international capital markets opens new horizons for Kyrgyz investors, promotes financial literacy, and fosters the formation of a modern investment approach,” concluded Pakhomov.
