The question of the possibility of direct sales of livestock products without the involvement of intermediate distributors became a topic of discussion during the broadcast of the program "Elden Sobol," organized by the news agency "Kabar." The participants in the discussion were Uraan Chekirbaev, head of the food security department at the Ministry of Agriculture of the Kyrgyz Republic, and independent expert Tynchtyk Altymyshev.
Uraan Chekirbaev noted that at the moment, distributors play an important role in the retail trade system, including in the supply of food to public catering establishments. He added that it would be economically unfeasible for farmers from remote areas to come to the city to sell just one head of livestock.
“The participation of distributors in the supply chain is necessary, and excluding them from the process would be a mistake,” he stated.
Tynchtyk Altymyshev proposed an alternative path related to the development of agricultural cooperatives. He believes that the creation of cooperatives could provide producers with the opportunity to pool their production volumes and access the market directly, which in turn could promote the growth of direct sales of agricultural products.
