In an interview with IA "Kabar," Kanatbek Eshatov, head of the Association of Oil Traders of Kyrgyzstan, explained why there was a slight decrease in gasoline and diesel prices. According to him, the market is currently selling off the remaining fuel from last year's production, while new quotes for this year are still being formed. Kyrgyzstan, he said, will receive the necessary amount of fuel and lubricants (F&L) from Russia on preferential terms.

As for F&L prices, there is a decrease of 1 – 1.5 soms, which is seasonal in nature. This is due to the fact that at the end of December, before the New Year holidays, Russian oil refineries reduced wholesale prices on the remaining stocks. After January 15, the refineries began to resume operations, and new quotes for February are expected at the end of the month. Based on this data, further changes in retail prices can be assessed,” noted Kanatbek Eshatov.
