- The Eurasian Economic Commission has noted the problem of truck congestion at certain border crossing points on the Kazakhstan-Kyrgyzstan border.

According to information from the Republic of Kazakhstan, the increase in the time required for border procedures is related to planned activities for border control.

“These activities are temporary and targeted; their goal is to organize the situation at the border and combat the illegal turnover of goods, which poses a threat to national security,” the commission stated.

Kazakhstan hopes for understanding and further cooperation to curb illegal activities that cause significant damage to the economies of both countries and their international reputation,” the statement added.

The EEC noted, citing an official statement from Kazakhstan, that such measures fall within the national competence of the member states of the Eurasian Economic Union and do not affect the processes of Eurasian integration.

Furthermore, the legal framework of the EAEU provides for the elimination of various types of control in mutual trade between member states, except in cases provided for by EAEU law.
