The Council of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) has approved a draft agreement concerning electronic trade in goods within the EAEU and has sent it for the necessary domestic procedures in the member states of the "five".

According to the EEC press service, this document aims to establish unified rules for electronic trade in the internal market, as well as to reduce the likelihood of barriers that hinder the free movement of goods.

The creation of a legal framework for electronic trade is a significant step in ensuring comfortable conditions for both businesses and consumers in the member countries. For businesses, this means predictability and transparency in regulation across the entire territory of the union, the ability to use electronic document management, as well as a reduction in administrative and financial costs, noted the EEC.

As for consumers, they are guaranteed compliance with unified standards for the protection of rights, comparable to traditional trade, as well as ensuring information security, protection of personal data, and restrictions on spam distribution. Additionally, creating conditions for the free movement of goods and related services in the field of electronic trade will allow citizens to access a diverse range of quality products from different regions and open new opportunities for businesses.

The development of this document has been carried out within the framework of a roadmap aimed at creating favorable conditions for electronic trade in the EAEU, which was approved by the heads of government of the member states in 2021.
