- At the business forum held on January 28, 2026, dedicated to the strategic development of the Chui region, Kunduz Asanalieva, head of a textile company, outlined a number of key issues hindering progress in this sector.

She noted that the lack of production capacity, as well as the absence of industrial parks and land resources, are the main obstacles preventing local producers from entering large export markets.

“When large federal retail chains demand supplies of hundreds of thousands of units of products, we face limitations in land and capacity. Without implementing a cluster approach and creating industrial parks, exporting products becomes extremely difficult,” Asanalieva emphasized.

According to her, the textile industry of Kyrgyzstan remains 85% dependent on imports, especially in terms of raw materials, which negatively affects the cost of production. In this regard, she supported the initiative to create industry clusters and increase land area for production needs.

Asanalieva also highlighted the shortage of qualified personnel and proposed the implementation of dual education based on vocational schools, working closely with businesses.

During the forum, a proposal was made for the recycling of textile waste. Askhatbek Majitov, a representative of a company engaged in the recycling of sewing waste, reported that their enterprise is involved in the removal of waste from Bishkek and processing it into geotextiles, insulation materials, and carpet products, some of which began to be exported to Kazakhstan starting in January of this year.
