Kyrgyzstan Identified Water Security as a Key Global Issue at the World Government Summit

At the World Government Summit in Dubai, Bakyt Torobaev, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet and Minister of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry, spoke at a ministerial roundtable.

In his speech, Torobaev noted that humanity is facing numerous challenges related to climate, water resources, food, and the social sphere. In such conditions, it is necessary to transition to comprehensive and long-term risk management to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals.

He also emphasized the importance of the issue of water resource scarcity in the context of climate change.

“The Kyrgyz Republic, being a mountainous country and a source of rivers in Central Asia, bears special responsibility for the sustainability of the region's water ecosystems and actively raises issues of water security on the international stage,” the press service stated.
