Kyrgyzstan and the World Bank discussed the implementation of a project to improve air quality









On February 4, a meeting was held at the Ministry of Natural Resources, Ecology, and Technical Supervision of Kyrgyzstan with Sameh Naguib Wahba, the Regional Director of the World Bank for Sustainable Development in Europe and Central Asia.

According to the ministry, issues of strategic cooperation and possible ways to expand interaction between Kyrgyzstan and the World Bank in the field of sustainable development were discussed.

The focus was on aspects of improving air quality, enhancing climate resilience, and implementing the project "Improving Air Quality in Kyrgyzstan," supported by the World Bank. Opportunities for strengthening cooperation in the Mountain Agenda were also considered.

Minister Meder Mashiev emphasized the importance of the World Bank's support in implementing key national programs aimed at adapting to climate change, reducing environmental risks, and introducing modern environmental technologies. He also reported that the ministry is actively working on a draft law on climate activities, which is intended to create legal and economic mechanisms for transitioning to sustainable and low-carbon development in the country.

At the end of the meeting, Sameh Naguib Wahba thanked the participants for their warm welcome and productive discussion of future steps in cooperation.
